Each Monday, a new rhythm is forming between our Early Education Centres and Emmaus Village. Residents and children come together for a moment through the day to connect and bring two generations together.

Through this intergenerational program, the visits gently alternate. One week, children arrive at Emmaus Village, bringing curiosity, energy, and a sense of wonder. The next, our residents visit the early learning centres, stepping into spaces filled with play, creativity, and discovery.

In these shared moments, connection grows.

There are simple conversations, shared activities, and quiet moments side by side. Some connections are expressed in words, others through smiles, gestures, and presence. Each interaction offers something valuable — a sense of belonging, recognition, and companionship.

For our residents living with dementia, these visits can create moments of familiarity, calm, and engagement. For the children, it is an opportunity to learn about care, respect, and the importance of community.

We are already seeing relationships begin to form. Familiar faces are greeted with growing confidence. There is ease, warmth, and a sense that something important is taking shape.

This program reflects what matters most in our work — supporting connection, dignity, and wellbeing across every stage of life.

And each week, as these visits continue, that connection deepens.
